£1 Million Prize Expires This Sunday!

Updated: Monday 23rd July 2018

EuroMillions players in the UK are being urged to check and double check any and all lottery tickets in their possession due to a prize of £1 million (as well as a 14-night luxury holiday in Bali, the Maldives or Thailand) expiring this Sunday 30 July.

The prize in question was won in the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker game on Tuesday 31 January, and the winning ticket was purchased in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley. Any reader who lives or works in that area, or who may have bought a ticket whilst passing through, would do well to search pockets, wallets, handbags, car glove compartments and similar places, just in case they have the winner without realising it.

Since the unclaimed prize was won at the end of January, it could be that the winner purchased their ticket in an attempt to end the first month of the year on a high note. Or perhaps the winning ticket was received as a gift over the festive season, which is perfectly viable given that any EuroMillions line of numbers can be entered for up to eight draws in advance.

It was at the end of January that Sopranos star Frank Pellegrino died at the age of 72 and the US stock market took a dive after President Trump controversially tried to ban immigrants from seven countries. Ed Sheeran was number one in the music charts with Shape of You, animated musical Sing was number one at the box office (with T2 Trainspotting having its weekend opening) and Barnsley FC were beaten 1-3 at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

If any of those events ring a bell (perhaps you’re a Wolves fan who went to the Barnsley match and bought a ticket on the day) or you can recall buying a EuroMillions entry in the region at any point between December and the end of January, be sure to check your tickets without delay. There were five Millionaire Maker winners on Tuesday 31 January due to it being a Mega Week draw, and all of the winning numbers can be viewed on our EuroMillions Results page for that date.

Whilst you are checking your tickets, also be aware that there are plenty of other unclaimed prizes that are currently waiting for their rightful owners to come forward, so do visit our Unclaimed Lottery Prizes page for full details of those.

If you are satisfied that you aren’t sitting on a winning ticket, you may want to have a go at winning big in the next EuroMillions game this Friday 28 July, when the jackpot will be worth an estimated £51 million. Choose your numbers today and good luck!
