EuroMillions Jackpot is Biggest of the Year

A EuroMillions jackpot of £133 million will be on offer in Friday’s draw, giving players the chance to become one of the biggest UK winners ever.

The top prize has rolled over for 11 consecutive draws, dating back to 18th March. It has climbed more than £100 million from its starting value of £14 million, and is now larger than any other jackpot that has been available this year.

If a UK ticket holder matches all the numbers on Friday, they will occupy fourth position in the list of the largest jackpots to have been paid out in the country.

An anonymous player holds top spot after winning £170 million in October 2019. They slotted in ahead of Colin and Chris Weir (£161 million), and Adrian and Gillian Bayford (£148 million), who won record-breaking prizes back in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The biggest jackpot to have been given away so far this year has been £109 million. It came in a Superdraw on 4th February and went to a single participant from the UK.

What happened to the April Superdraw?

Another Superdraw had been lined up for this Friday, 29th April, with the jackpot again fixed at €130 million (£109 million). This would have been a guaranteed amount, regardless of whether the top prize was much lower in the preceding draw or even if it had just been won.

However, the jackpot has now gone past the advertised value of the Superdraw naturally due to the ongoing sequence of rollovers. When this happens, a planned Superdraw is essentially cancelled so that the jackpot can continue to run its course.

The good news is that an even bigger jackpot is available for this Friday, while a new date for the Superdraw will be announced in time. There were four Superdraws last year, and also four in 2020.
