EuroMillions Superdraw Beckons on Friday 24th September

Updated: Friday 20th August 2021

The third EuroMillions Superdraw of the year will take place on Friday 24th September, putting up a jackpot of €130 million (approximately £110 million).

The most recent Superdraw was held on 4th June and was a memorable event for one UK player, who was the only winner on the night.

The lucky ticket holder contacted National Lottery officials just a couple of days later to stake a claim for the prize, which was worth £111 million. In the process they became the country’s ninth-biggest lottery winner of all time. They opted to stay anonymous, so no more information was revealed about where the ticket was sold, or even whether it belonged to an individual or a syndicate.

Everyone who enters the upcoming Superdraw in September will hope for a similar outcome, and the UK has a successful track record in Europe’s biggest multinational lottery. Out of all nine participating countries, the UK has had the most winners.

The biggest UK winner was the player who claimed £170 million anonymously in 2019, but EuroMillions has since undergone a number of changes to make huge jackpots even more commonplace.

EuroMillions Prizes

A bigger portion of the prize fund now goes to the jackpot in every draw, while the maximum prize has also gone up and is currently worth €210 million (approximately £180 million).

Superdraws work in exactly the same way as regular draws, except that the advertised jackpot is guaranteed. It doesn’t matter if the value of the top prize is much lower in the preceding draw, or even if has just been won, the jackpot will be increased to €130 million.

The Reserve Fund is used to pay for the jackpot in a Superdraw, so these special events can only be offered every few months when there is sufficient money available. Go to the Prizes page for more information about how draws are funded.

Remember to check your EuroMillions numbers after the Superdraw to find out if you are a winner. You then need to make sure you come forward within 180 days to claim your prize. If you’re lucky enough to land the nine-figure jackpot, you’ll be able to choose whether you want to stay anonymous like the last Superdraw winner in June or go public with your story.
