Lotto Jackpot of £24.7 Million Must Be Won
The largest Lotto jackpot of the year will be on offer in Wednesday night’s draw, and lucky players have a better chance than usual of snapping up a share of the fortune. As the top prize has gone past its jackpot cap, the full £24.7 million is guaranteed to be given away.
The top prize has been building for ten straight draws since a single ticket holder scooped £3.4 million on Saturday 15th April, and last week the jackpot cap of £22 million was exceeded. Once this has happened, the rules of the game dictate that the jackpot can only roll over one more time before it has to be won.
Nobody managed to land the £23 million up for grabs in Saturday’s draw, and as such the jackpot must now be won in midweek. If there are no players who match all six main numbers on Wednesday, the prize will be split between participants in the next winning tier.
The last time there was a jackpot that had to be won, nobody matched all six main numbers and the one player who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball pocketed a fantastic £26.4 million. The odds of matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball are 1 in 7.5 million, six times better than the chances of matching all six main numbers.
It is shaping up to be the most exciting week of 2017 for lottery fans, with a massive EuroMillions jackpot of £99 million also available on Tuesday. You can only win if you have picked some numbers, though, and you can do so online or by visiting any authorised retailer in the UK. Good luck!
