Single UK Ticket Wins £121 Million EuroMillions Jackpot
Updated: Monday 23rd July 2018
A single ticket holder from the UK has won an astonishing £121 million prize after landing the EuroMillions jackpot in the draw on Tuesday 24th April. It is the third-biggest prize ever won by a UK lottery player and the seventh UK winner of a EuroMillions Superdraw jackpot.
EuroMillions Results
The winning numbers from Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw were 20, 23, 28, 30, and 44, with Lucky Stars 03 and 07. There were 2.4 million winners across all participating countries, with just the one UK ticket winning the biggest prize. See our EuroMillions results page for a full breakdown of all prizes won.
The winning UK ticket matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the £121 million jackpot, which had rolled over from the EuroMillions Superdraw that took place on Friday 20th April. The jackpot for the Superdraw started at £113 million, but as no one won it on the night, it rolled over and an additional £8 million was added to Tuesday’s jackpot.
Check Your Tickets
Speaking about the extraordinary win, Andy Carter, senior winners' advisor at The National Lottery, said, "Wow - what a night for UK EuroMillions players. Players are urged to check their tickets and, rest assured, we have plenty of champagne on ice ready to help The National Lottery's newest multi-millionaire celebrate."
Tuesday’s jackpot has not yet been claimed, so if you entered the draw, check your tickets to see if you have the winning line. To claim the prize, the lucky ticket holder must contact the National Lottery and produce the winning ticket and proof of identity. In the UK, EuroMillions players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes. After this period has passed, unclaimed prizes are transferred to the National Lottery Good Causes fund.
Other Big UK Winners
Tuesday’s win was the third-biggest lottery seen in the UK. Chris and Colin Weir from Ayshire, Scotland, hold the record for the biggest jackpot won in the UK, after they landed a £161.6 million (€185 million) jackpot in a EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 12th July 2011. That jackpot had rolled over an incredible 14 times before the Weirs won it.
In August of the following year, Adrian and Gillian Bayford of Haverhill, Suffolk, won the joint-biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot of €190 million, but due to an unfavourable exchange rate, they actually ended up with less than the Weirs when the prize was converted to sterling. This won’t have caused the Bayford’s any upset, though, as the jackpot was still worth a huge £148.6 million, the second-biggest ever lottery win in the UK.
The EuroMillions Jackpot Resets
Now that the £121 million prize has been won, the EuroMillions jackpot resets to its starting value of £14 million (€17 million) for the draw on Friday 27th April.
