UK Player Stakes Claim For £171M EuroMillions Jackpot

Updated: Monday 26th September 2022

A UK player has quickly come forward to claim Friday night’s £171 million EuroMillions jackpot, having become the country’s third-biggest winner of all time.

The lucky ticket holder matched the numbers 14, 15, 22, 35 and 48, plus Lucky Stars 3 and 8, ending a sequence of rollovers stretching back to the latest Superdraw on 9th September.

As they were the only winner from the 40 million entries that were purchased for the draw, they took home the entire jackpot fund - worth exactly £171,815,297.80.

National Lottery bosses have already confirmed that the winner has made contact, so the ticket just needs to be validated before the prize can be paid out.

“What an amazing year for UK EuroMillions players,” said Camelot’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter. "We are delighted to have received a claim for the third biggest-ever win and look forward to supporting the ticket holder and helping them to start to enjoy their truly life-changing win."

If the winner decides to stay anonymous, no more information will be disclosed about them or even where the ticket was bought. If they choose to go public, a press event will be scheduled where they can share their story with the world.

Biggest UK Winners

Remarkably, the three largest lottery prizes in UK history have now all been paid out this year. Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester won £184 million on 10th May, before their record was broken by an anonymous player who scooped £195 million on 19th July.

In total, there have been six UK EuroMillions winners in 2022, including five who have banked more than £100 million. Apart from the Thwaites, all the rest have kept their identities private.

All National Lottery winners have 180 days to come forward and claim their prize, regardless of the value. Even if you missed out on the jackpot this time, you can use the EuroMillions Checker to find out if you won in one of the 12 other prize categories.

The jackpot for the next draw will be worth £14 million and you can take part now. Lottery.co.uk will have more news if the latest winner decides to go public.
