UK Player Wins £58 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

Updated: Tuesday 28th April 2020

A single ticket holder from the UK won just under £58 million in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 10th July. The lucky player was the only one to match all five numbers and both Lucky Stars in the draw, so takes home the entire jackpot, which had rolled over for five consecutive draws.

The winning numbers in Tuesday’s draw were 3, 8, 26, 33, and 45, with Lucky Stars 7 and 10. Over 376,000 players in the UK won a prize in the draw alongside the jackpot winner, from those who matched two numbers to win £2.60 to one player who matched five numbers to win just under £40,000. Two UK Millionaire Maker codes were also drawn - they were MKMX93751 and VKMR86851. See the results page for a full prize breakdown from Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw.

The wait is now on for the jackpot-winning ticket holder to come forward and claim their prize. Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at the National Lottery, said: “We have another multimillion-pound EuroMillions jackpot winner here in the UK, just a few months on from a £121 million winner. Players are urged to check their tickets and, rest assured, we have plenty of champagne on ice ready to celebrate.”

Nothing is known yet about the winner, and it might stay that way, as UK EuroMillions players have the right to retain their anonymity. The previous winner from April, who landed a £121 million jackpot, did just that, while some other notable UK winners decided to go public. Colin and Chris Weir of Ayrshire currently hold the record for the biggest-ever UK lottery win after they landed £161 million in July 2011, while Adrian and Gillian Bayford won £148 million in August 2012.

The winner has 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. The money and any interest it generates will go into the National Lottery’s Good Causes fund if it not claimed within this period.

Millions of Pounds Still Left Unclaimed

It might be hard to believe, but millions of pounds in prize money goes unclaimed every year. It’s not just smaller prizes that get forgotten about either; jackpot-winning sums have gone unclaimed in the past. In December 2012, the claim deadline for a £64 million EuroMillions jackpot won in the UK passed without anyone coming forward to claim the prize. Lottery officials revealed that the winning ticket was bought in the Stevenage and Hitchin area but despite a huge publicity campaign to find the winner, no one came forward.

Unclaimed prize money is most commonly generated by the raffles and supplementary draws associated with major lotteries, such as the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker. This is because many players don’t realise that they are entered into these extra draws automatically when they buy a ticket for the main game, so they don’t think to check their tickets.

There are currently 12 prizes worth £1 million waiting to be claimed by UK players, stretching back six months. You can see a full list here, so if you still have an old lottery ticket and never thought to check the results of the associated raffle, there’s still time. If you enter EuroMillions this weekend, remember that a special UK Millionaire Maker raffle will take place, in which 13 winning raffle tickets will be drawn, each worth £1 million to the winner. The jackpot in the main game will be an estimated £15 million.
