£71 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Won in the UK
A lucky player has become the UK’s 15th biggest EuroMillions winner of all time after scooping a £71 million jackpot in the draw on Friday 15th March. They are also the 76th jackpot winner to come from the UK since EuroMillions started in 2004. The owner, or owners, of the winning ticket have reportedly already come forward to claim their prize.
Over 2.2 Million Winners
The winning ticket matched the five numbers – 3, 15, 24, 42 and 45 – plus the two Lucky Stars 9 and 12, to become overnight multi-millionaires. There were six winners in the Match 5 and 1 Lucky Star category, all of whom were one Lucky Star away from winning a share of the jackpot for themselves. There were over 2.2 million winners on the night. Elsewhere, the winning Millionaire Maker code was MXBD72461.
The identity of the winners of the eight-figure windfall is not yet known, and it isn’t clear at this stage whether they are a single player or part of a syndicate, and whether the winning entry was bought online or from a licensed retailer. The winner, or winners, will now have to decide whether to go public or remain anonymous, and more details about the EuroMillions winner will be revealed if they decide against anonymity.
Andy Carter, senior winners' advisor at The National Lottery, explained shortly after the winning numbers had been revealed: "One very lucky ticket holder has scooped tonight's massive £70 million EuroMillions jackpot. Players all across the country are now urged to check their tickets to be in with a chance of claiming this amazing prize.
"The year got off to the luckiest of starts for UK EuroMillions players when Patrick and Frances Connolly from Northern Ireland scooped the entire £114.9 million jackpot in the draw on New Year's Day and, on 1 March, EuroMillions created 40 guaranteed UK millionaires in one special night."
The jackpot had rolled over for six consecutive draws since €175 million (£152 million) was won by an Irish family syndicate on 19th February. The jackpot has automatically reset to £14 million ahead of this Tuesday’s draw following the latest big win. Choose your numbers from any authorised retailer throughout the UK or play online to be in with a chance of winning.
