The National Lottery has announced that 13 EuroMillions players in the UK will win £1 million in a special edition of the Millionaire Maker draw on Friday 13th July, as the bad luck traditionally associated with the date is once again flipped on its head.

Superstition surrounding Friday 13th is understood to have arisen in the Middle Ages, but it is now becoming one of the most eagerly-anticipated dates on the calendar among EuroMillions players. Special Millionaire Maker draws were held on Friday 13th October 2017 and Friday 13th April 2018, and now another big event has been lined up for this month to give away even more big prizes.

How Will the Draw Work on Friday 13th July?

If you buy a EuroMillions ticket in the UK, you are automatically entered into the Millionaire Maker game. You receive one Millionaire Maker code for every line of EuroMillions numbers you play. Each code is unique and consists of four letters and five numbers. It is randomly generated at the point of purchase and can be seen directly below your numbers on your EuroMillions ticket.

In standard EuroMillions draws, two Millionaire Maker codes are selected as winners. The players with matching codes on their tickets receive £1 million each.

The only difference on Friday 13th is that 13 winning codes will be announced rather than just two. You still play the game in exactly the same way, but can look forward to the draw knowing that you will have a better chance of winning than usual.
