Lotto Approaches Jackpot Cap!
Updated: Monday 15th May 2017
Lotto is fast approaching its £22 million jackpot cap, which means that it won’t be long before it is certain to be won. An eighth consecutive rollover last Saturday gives the jackpot for the next draw this Wednesday 17 May an estimated value of £20 million, so if it rolls over again it would probably bring the jackpot cap rules into play from Saturday.
The rules state that when a Lotto jackpot reaches £22 million and rolls over, it can’t roll over again, so if nobody wins the top prize this Wednesday, and a jackpot of more than £22 million rolls over again on Saturday, it is guaranteed to be won next week. Either someone will match all six main numbers that are needed to land the top prize outright, or the jackpot will roll down and be shared between winning players at the next highest tier.
Of course, everyone is hoping that they will scoop the Lotto jackpot before the cap value is reached, and plenty of players will be having a go at landing the estimated £20 million this Wednesday. For those of you who wish to keep an eye on the most overdue numbers, our Lotto Statistics page tells us that the ones to look out for are 33, 20, 09, 44, 28 and 56. Whatever happens in the main game on Wednesday, 20 players will each win a Lotto Raffle prize of £20,000 each, and one player is guaranteed to win £1 million in Lotto Millionaire Raffle.
Knowing that the Lotto top prize is approaching the jackpot cap is definitely something to get excited about, but EuroMillions is also worthy of attention, because the next draw on Tuesday 16 May will offer a jackpot worth around £81 million. That will be the biggest EuroMillions jackpot to be offered this year, so players will be keen to try and win it, and two UK participants are guaranteed to emerge from the game £1 million richer thanks to the associated Millionaire Maker draw.
The most overdue EuroMillions numbers at the time of writing are 18, 15, 40, 42 and 41, along with the Lucky Star numbers 10 and 04, so do watch out for those if you like to follow such things.
