What The Birthday Winner Must Do Now
The latest success came 25 years to the day after the National Lottery’s first draw took place on 19th November 1994.
Andy Carter, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor, said after the draw: “On our 25th birthday, one very lucky ticket holder has scooped tonight’s entire £105 million EuroMillions jackpot."
Out of the six UK winners in 2019, four of those jackpots have been larger than £100 million. It started on New Year’s Day when Patrick and Frances Connolly from Northern Ireland landed £114 million, before an anonymous player won £123 million on 11th June.
The largest win of the year came on Tuesday 8th October, when the jackpot had to be won after staying at its cap of €190 million for the maximum of four draws. A single player from the UK matched all the numbers to win the full amount, worth £170 million, taking their place as the country’s biggest-ever winner.
The next big win has now arrived just six weeks later, extending an extraordinary year for the UK. The player who scooped £170 million decided to stay anonymous but the latest winners went public with the news.
