Pub Lottery Syndicate Celebrates EuroMillions Win
Updated: Monday 23rd July 2018
A syndicate of sixteen lottery players is celebrating after winning big in the EuroMillions draw that was held on Friday 10 February. The syndicate, which is based at The Kings Arms pub in Orsett, Essex, matched five main numbers as well as one of the Lucky Star numbers to scoop a second-tier prize of £187,109. That prize has now been divided equally between the sixteen members, giving each the handy sum of £11,694.
The syndicate was formed almost three years ago and is led by Emma Crawford, who is the landlady of The Kings Arms. Members include Emma’s sister and a bunch of regulars, and over the years Emma has established something of a reputation for being slow to check the syndicate's numbers. On this occasion, however, she used her lottery app to check their entries just a few days after the draw, on Valentine’s Day, and promptly discovered that they had landed the six-figure sum.
Emma’s first instinct was to doubt what she was seeing, so she closed the app, relaunched it and checked the ticket again, only to get the same result. She then went into the bar to get a second opinion and was soon advised to ring the lottery organisers to claim the prize without delay.
Confident that the win was indeed genuine and not a figment of her imagination, Emma started contacting the other syndicate members, and they all began trickling into the pub to celebrate. It was a Valentine’s Day evening that none of them will forget in a hurry, and the players are now putting their winnings to good use by treating themselves to holidays, cars and home improvements.
We congratulate the Kings Arms syndicate members on their win, and wish them continued success in the future. The win demonstrates once again that lottery players don’t necessarily have to scoop a jackpot to have something to celebrate, and that consolation prizes – despite being much easier to win – can often be large enough to make a very real difference.
The EuroMillions this Tuesday 27 February is the last one of the month, and will offer a jackpot worth an estimated £31 million. Choose your numbers here if you’d like a chance of winning, and good luck!
